Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ) is one of the leading community energy organization in the Balkans, dedicated to accelerating the adoption of solar energy and mainstreaming community-owned energy solutions.
As part of its nationwide activities in Croatia, ZEZ established the energy community ZEZ Sun in 2024, enabling citizens to invest directly in solar energy projects. The initiative’s first objective was the construction of a community-owned solar PV plant on the roof of the City Market in the City of Križevci.
We supported ZEZ and ZEZ Sun by producing video content that tells the story of ZEZ Sun and its mission.
The first video was created as part of a fundraising campaign aimed at raising €140,000 in citizen investments to finance the construction of the solar PV plant in Križevci. The fundraising goal was successfully reached in just 10 days, and the campaign was later recognized as a finalist for the Croatian Public Relations Association’s Grand PRix Award.
The second video documents the process of building the solar PV plant and launching its operation, showcasing in practice what it takes to develop and run a community-owned solar power plant.
The ZEZ Sun project received the SozialMarie Award for social innovation in Central and Eastern Europe and was named Project of the Year at the Annual Award for Green Building and Sustainable Built Environment. We are proud to have been part of this innovative initiative, which powerfully demonstrates the potential and impact of community-driven action.
